

STELLARSCAPES 2022
STELLARSCAPES ’22 is another creative approach organized by FASE Sri Lanka to fulfil the rising interest in astronomy among the younger generation today. The competition will be conducted under two categories; Astrophotography competition and Astro videography competition. The astrophotography competition focuses on two main categories: open and school, giving access to not only school children but also for university students and professionals.
1. The competition will be held in two categories.
– School Category (Contestants must be under the age of 19 as in 31st of December 2022)
– Open Category (Contestants must be over the age of 19 as in 31st of December 2022)
2. Participants must be able to provide proof of belonging to the selected age group if requested. (BC, NIC, Postal ID)
3. Entries can be submitted to any of the following topics,
– Deep Sky
– Milky way
– Lunar
– Solar
– Planetary
– Nightscape
4. The following awards will be presented under each category.
– Best photograph
– Most popular photograph
5. Each contestant is allowed to fill in the submission form only once. You can attach up to a maximum of 5 entries in that submission form.
6. The maximum file size per photograph is 25MB.
7. All entries must be submitted before the deadline (27th November 2022; 11:59 PM)
8. The submitted photograph must be original, owned by the participant and should not violate intellectual property rights in any way.
9. Rename each entry with your name and the number of the photograph. (Eg: YourName01, YourName02)
10. Contestants must provide the following regarding your entries in a single text document. Mention your photograph number and respective details per entry.
– Details of the camera, lens and filter.
– Date, time and location.
– A brief description of the photograph.
– Observation note.
– Telescope details (if any)
*Should be a single word or a text document and attached to the Google Form.
11. Image stacking can be done before submitting. If stacking has been done, upload a few frames used for stacking into a Google Drive, and attach the link.
*Make sure you have granted public access to view the Drive folder via the link.
12. Images must only be submitted as JPEG or RAW formats.
13. Images can be edited before submission; if the judge board requests the unedited raw file, the contestant must be able to provide it.
14. Digitally manipulated entries are prohibited.
15. The image should not contain any watermarks, borders or signatures.
16. Entries are judged by a panel of experienced judges appointed by Foundation of Astronomical Studies & Exploration. The decision of the judges will be considered as the final decision.
17. All copyrights of photographs during and after the competition belong to the participant.
18. Submitted photographs will be showcased in the competition gallery via social media with proper credits.
Important
If the judge board decides that any submission or contestant has not followed the rules and regulations, they will be immediately disqualified.
01. This competition is open to contestants of any age.
02. You are required to submit a timelapse video in regards to the below mentioned topics:
– Meteor shower
– Star trails
– Eclipse
– Nightscape
03. The following awards will be presented.
– Best Video
– Most popular Video
04. There is a limit of 3 entries per person.
05. The video should not be longer than 5 minutes.
06. All entries must be submitted before the deadline (27th November 2022 ; 11:59 PM)
07. The submitted video must be original, owned by the participant and should not violate intellectual property rights in any way.
08. Rename each entry with your name and the number of the video. (Eg: YourName01, YourName02)
09. Contestants must provide the following regarding your entries in a single text document. Mention your video number and respective details per entry.
– Details of the camera, lens and filter.
– Date, time and location.
– A brief description of the photograph.
– Observation note.
– Telescope details (if any)

10. The video should be uploaded to a Google Drive and a shareable link should be submitted to our Google form with the information listed above.
*Make sure you have granted public access to view the Drive folder via the link.
11. Entries are judged by a panel of experienced judges appointed by Foundation of Astronomical Studies & Exploration. The decision of the judges will be considered as the final decision.
12. All copyrights during and after the competition belong to the participant.
18. Submitted videos will be showcased via social media.

07. Rename each entry with your name and the number of the photograph (Eg:YourName01,YourName02)
08. Contestants must provide followings, with each entry as attachments.Rename your attachment file with the same name of the photograph.
I. Details of the Camera, lens and filter.
II. Date, time and location.
III. A brief description about the photograph.
IV. Observation notes.
